Cutting Brass Letters

Materials Needed

  • 1/16 in. PreciseBIT Non-Ferrous Cutter (Part Number MN208-0625-013F)
  • 8 x16 in.
  • Acetone
  • Superglue
  • Backing Material
  • Newspaper sheet
  • 3/4 in. MDF Board

Cutting letters from a single brass sheet

  1. Clean Brass Sheet with Acetone
  2. Spread Superglue on Copper Sheet
  3. Place 3/4 in. MDF board on top of newspaper sheet
  4. Press Brass Sheet down on 3/4 in. MDF board and press to flatten the Brass Sheet
  5. Wait approximately five minutes
  6. Complete Cuts
  7. Pour Acetone Between Brass Sheet and Backing material to separate them

To Cut Multiple Brass Sheet Layers

Have you ever needed to cut out several of the same letters at the same time?
Try this technique out.  You can cut up to four Copper Sheets out with one of our 1/16 in. cutters.

  1. Complete Steps 1-3 as described above
  2. Spread Superglue on Brass Sheet #2 place on top of Brass Sheet #1
  3. Repeat Step 2 until a total of four Brass Sheets have been added
  4. Complete Cuts
  5. Pour Acetone between Brass Sheet(s) and Backing material to separate them

Notes

You may use both sides of your backing material before you discard.
